A passenger ferry that was built in Japan and registered and operated in the Philippines. While severely overcrowded and travelling from Leyte island to Manila, it collided with an oil tanker and sank. This resulted in the deaths of 4385 people, with only 26 survivors, and it remains the by far the deadliest peacetime maritime disaster in history.
